Hopefully Joeys arrival will be the start of a regular flow of anglers to the lake and end the frustration and worry caused by the enigma that is Covid. It has been a struggle throughout , but the high standards and pride in everything at the lake has continued throughout so all is in perfect condition for the arrival of the first angler.
Unbelievably 25 minutes after setting up , Joey banked his target fish White Stripe at a cracking weight of 38 1/4 lb , quickly followed by mirrors of 31 and 22 . Then came the first appearance on the bank of a fish we believe to be the one we stocked last winter at 49-3 , an absolute brute of a fish , that has obviously been taking advantage of the food rich environment . Lake baits rolled by good friends Colin and Helen of Carp PB boilies based at Barnview Lake have done the business . Bottom baits topped with fake corn proving the going method . At the moment changeable weather has slowed down the action but I’m sure they will be back on the feed soon .

I think I may have started a trend at the lake as Joeys better half was unable to make the journey due to work commitments so his mum duly stepped in and is currently sleeping out under canvas with the carp catching machine. I still think my own mum at 82 will take some beating for enjoying bivvy life , unless you know different ?
well , sit on your hands and keep trickling the bait in and they will come . 3 fish last night from the bent tree , a double , a 25 lb common and Ronnie at its biggest weight so far , a hefty 49 lb , fantastic result .

The fish slowed down towards the end of the week but Joey kept to his spots with fish crashing all over the lake , and was rewarded with one last fish , my old nemesis Gilbert the grass carp at its highest weight so far , just over 41 lb .

A fantastic weeks fishing , and already booked in for next year . Dave and myself up next , may try something a little different.
